How can this be? I mean, how can a company that has been out of business for 30 years have a brand new guitar? Could these be 2 different Ventura company's? I have emailed this person but have yet to receive a reply. With or without the name Bruno on it? Also as I mentioned above, it was my understanding that Ventura was shut down in the 70's but I just saw a Ventura up for auction on Ebay and the description of the guitars says that it is NEW.

If anybody can help me out I would really appreciate it. So my question is.why do some Ventura's have the name Bruno on it and others don't? My guess is that if it didn't have the name Bruno on it then it was probably bought and sold in Japan.but that is just my guess. It was a V14 and the label (which was slighty different) reads: VENTURA Fine Fretted Instruments Serial No._ Model No._ designed in USA built in Japan I have seen this same V14 in an old Bruno Ventura catalog so I know that this model was also sold here in the USA. Each of these has the label inside of the sound hole which reads: VENTURA B BRUNO MODEL_ SERIAL_ I recently saw a Ventura without the name Bruno on the label. Bruno and Company during the 1960s and 1970s.Ī V25 and a V696.

Ventura was a brand of stringed instruments imported from Japan by C. Quality features include: Solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides with celluloid binding. Vintage Ventura Bruno V10 acoustic guitar in super condition. Ventura Bruno V10 Solid Spruce Top Japanese 1970s Beauty.

Whenever I hear someone mentioning Ventura guitars, 90% of the time they usually add the name Bruno (as in Bruno Ventura). Having said this, there are a lot worse guitars out there, and as well as being historically important, the 1820 bass can certainly provide the goods when required.Fellow Pickers, I am hoping that someone can shed some light on me regarding Ventura guitars and the name Bruno. Over the course of the 70s, the Japanese output improved dramatically, and in many ways these early 70s models are a low point for the brand. These new Epiphones were based on existing Matsumoku guitars, sharing body shapes, and hardware, but the Epiphone line was somewhat upgraded, with inlaid logos and a 2x2 peghead configuration. The Matsumoku factory had been producing guitars for export for some time, but the 1820 bass (alongside a number of guitar models and the 5120 electric acoustic bass) were the first Epiphone models to be made there. I traded in a 2003 Epiphone Dot and $50 for the Swede and couldn't be happier.īy the end of the 1960s, a decision had been made to move Epiphone guitar production from the USA (at the Kalamazoo plant where Gibson guitars were made), to Matsumoto in Japan, creating a line of guitars and basses significantly less expensive than the USA-built models (actually less than half the price). There is also a missing part or two.the string holder cover that I see on most photos of old Swedes is not there and the pu and tone selector switches are missing the plastic caps The orignial owner replaced the hagstrom bridge pu with a Dimarzio (have no idea what model) but it sounds very sweet. And how can you resist that cool Hagstom headstock and those awesome tuning keys. But because the neck just plays so nice and the beast (its heavy) sounded so great, I didn't care what it looked like. The guitar definitely has its fair share of dings and scratches and finish issues. The shop I bought it at said there was only one previous owner. I've emailed some folks over in Sweden who seem to know much about Hagstrom so hopefully they'll get back to me. How, where? I've found some websites (most already listed in earlier postings in this thread) but it's hard to figure out where to go. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "have to look this up".

So you're saying this could possibly be from '73.
